DOLMEN - A VILÁG VÉGÉN

Boldogan másolom ide ezt a fényképet, Jeffrey Price barátom április elsején írt facebook-posztját, s a hozzá tartozó szöveget is: "This is one of the only photos of Edward’s Dolmen, an extraordinary object of unknown origin found in a remote pasture in Cornwall in 1921. News of its discovery sent shockwaves around the world, and geologists rushed to the site, which was believed to predate Stonehenge. A sample was taken for study, but the chipping of the stone caused the monolith to crumble to dust in front of the shocked onlookers. Fortunately, the sample, which has since been lost, was recorded in a 1922 woodcut by Dutch artist M. Cornelis Escher, who was there accompanying his half-brother Beer, a renown expert on crystals. Today the illustration ‘Crystal’ can be found only in a rare Dutch book titled ‘Flor de Pascua,’ which may be translated as ‘Found in a Pasture." Szerencsére a megsemmisült dolment M. Cornelis Escher holland művész, aki féltestvérével, Beerrel, a kristályok neves szakértőjével járt a helyszínen, egy 1922-es fametszetén megörökítette.
